There is kind of a grieving process when the season changes and its time to forge ahead with a whole new line.
Fall 2009 has me so excited... its hard to hold back and not post some samples to show you,,, but i simply cant.
However... letting go of Spring 2009 is a challenge as this was my first real season doing a trade show and having an actual line and allowing customers to order customs. These designs are my babies.... and they were birthed from many years of just adjusting my own warddrobe and making changes to it over time.
In reflecting.... there are the stars of the season. The best seller all season long was the Shoot from the hip skirt... and the hybrid dress coming in second, picked up its popularity towards the end of the season. Other popular items were the dinner dress and coffee in the Am pants.
Items that did not fare was well,,, the Im with the band apron and the day of rest tee... they were kinda duds...sadly.
and another dud.... although it totally SHOCKS ME. because this item, hands down is my most favorite... i wear mine non stop all year round... so comfy and practical is the Jog in the park pants. I wear mine to yoga and get MAD compliments... these sweats are sooo comfortable and cute. It will be sad to say goodbye to them... as they never got the true attention they deserve. I think these sweats are the sort that one must really touch and see to appreciate.
The good news is: your voices have been heard.... Ive decided to keep these three items and bring them back for FALL 2009:
Shoot from the Hip
Hybrid Halter Dress
& The Mammy Pack.
Don't fret... If some of the others I didn't mention were your favorites... no need to worry... Fall is stacked with ecclectic goodness...

Cravings
I know I cant have sushi... but I'm thinking maybe I will just make brown rice, Wasabi and pasteurized soy sauce in a bowl and gobble it up...
or i want something with thai peanut sauce.... each craving i have is so particular...
My last pregnancy it was horseradish and icecream....
lets hope i dont start craving icecream.... this time around. I gained 52 pounds with McCoy... and I want to be diligent to not repeat that... its been a long time coming back...
random food talk. im hungry... gotta go make something happen.

Violet Bella.

Etsy is such a great place... and every now and then you come across a great artist.. like a hidden treasure deep in the sea... Violet Bella... is one artist I came across in the Lonestar state of Texas that I just fell in love with. I visited her site after she made a purchase in mine... so naturally I was curious... and took a peek at her lovely shop.
She makes really ecclectic special jewelry and art. ( check her out)
http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5117994
and I was thrilled when i realized she used the top she bought in one of her artist photos. this girl really is talented.

oh and to add to my rant.....
what can you wear remotely cute in weather such as 105? ... My garden is wilting... my cute clothes are collecting dust... my daughter wants to go to the park and not have the slide burn her legs... IM MELTING.
ok thats it for tonight.. i promise.
ok thats it for tonight.. i promise.
homesick?
I dont know whats going on... feeling a bit homesick today. I was thinking about South Redondo Beach alot today... the smell of the ocean... and the culture to which i belong. I feel so foreign out here.... like a stranger in a foreign land. Sometimes,,, I dont know what i am doing here... other times, i thank God i am not stressing in California anymore. Can I get a middle ground please?
maybe its hormones... but everything has been so much more pronounced today. We went out to eat because the heat made us lazy and not wanting to cook. I was craving a bean and cheese burrito from a place we have gone to recently... and when my order came the burrito was half the size as it was last time. ofcourse... i blamed it all on TEXAS. I am a bit upset right now with Texas... I cant stand this heat... it was 102 degrees at like 8pm. C'mon now? Im choking ... I can barley breathe.
I will admittingly sign off... as
waaahhh...waaaahhh.....waaaaaaappppp

MY OCD rewards you a SUPER SALE
I want a white seamless paper back ground... so the clothes will be the FEATURE.. not my ratty fence or bright red barn. Struggling with lighting outside and weather is kind of a hassle and its looks less professional. Im trying to up step my game here and in doing so... id like to clear out most all old inventory and baby items ASAP...in doing so... I can soon start with a clean cohesive slate and my etsy page will start to gleam with professionalism...
also... i need to pay for this professionalism... haha... a photo set kit costs like 400$ with all the bells and whistles... so the sale serves two purposes.... hope you find something worth nabbin up.
Check out the SUPER SALE BEFORE ITS ALL IT GONE... im serious.... most of everything is on sale... besides the new posts.
I just posted some NEW stuff.... and my favorite would have to be Marias Skirt.

Remember Guppies?
McCOy and I were at the park today... just cruisin, checkin out the ducks and the train and just taking a nice walk... when I saw these Moms with their two young girls ( about McCOys age) catching what they called minnows with little hand held fish nets... they had pails full of them and at the end of the day.. ofcourse they would return them to the pond.
I love free fun like this... I totally remember catching what we called guppies at Polliwog park in Manhattan Beach... and I think as we get older... we forget those small fun free things.... and get blurry with admission prices and planned events.
Not that I am complaining because we have a ton of fun at the waterpark,,, but it cost us $400 to get season passes for the family and I also have a yearly pass to the childrens musuem and the list goes on.... activities here and there add up... going to the pottery bisque and the gymnastics tumble class.... her swim class.... ballet in fall, all cost money. My new turning of the leaf... is seeking out creative ways to have fun that are free and more memorable... and less " class" oriented.
What are some of your ideas of ways to have fun as a Mommy with your Children? please share... maybe we can sharpen each other and spur along the others creativity. Comment here to share.!

Props to my awesome Customers.
I have to give Props to my customers for being some of the loveliest humans on earth. I get the nicest feedback,,, sweet thank you cards that melt my heart and random little token gifts.. Im braggin on you guys... because you all know how to make this Mommy feel appreciated and special... and lets face it... us Mommys can never get enough of that... since our job is one that goes unnoticed most of the time... not to a fault of anyone... but just the nature of the tasks that we do... over and over and over and over.....

Well anyway... I wanted to highlight a sweet customer friend of mine, Heather.
She has been so kind to shower me with these fantastic vintage silk hankies and scarfs.... I just love to touch them and dream of what they will become. So far I already made a Palazzo pant and embelished them with her scarfs and because of those, I am also doing a custom palazo pant for a friend Delana who sent her palazo pants in to have me spruce them up the same. if only there were more Palazzo pants in the world that were recycled and endless supplies of vintage hankies.... for I think we should ALL have a pair of these pants... Ill make more as I find them ..... stay tuned. Thanks Heather.... and By the way... I love my new NKOTB CD.

Rant Rant Rant.
To preface my super lengthy blog... I spent so much time responding to a friends blog tonight... that I didnt write my own. I figured might as well share the info I wrote... and keep a forum open on it. My friend wrote about her questioning the whole organic craze and the dogmatic moms that are out there to make you feel less than if you aren't spending a fortune on groceries... while she has some great points... and i enjoyed reading her blog very much... it got me fired up... and I had to share..
here is what i wrote::::
Uh -oh...
You probably wont like me after this comment. I only shop at Whole Foods and Everything I buy is organic. Why? Well def not because we are high rollers....In fact we are sooooooo the opposite… I am heavily against “ over- consumerism” and wastefulness.
Doctors do not study very much nutrition in school...they study medicine... and that’s after the damage has been done to ones body... they don’t instill " preventive medicine"... which is food and the factors that CAUSE disease. They diagnose. I don’t trust Doctors when it comes to what I eat at all. Pharmaceutical companies who want to make money prey off of people who get an un-curable disease... and the Doctor knows and learns all about the medicine they can put you on once the damage is done. There is a saying and it goes like” Once you fall off the ten story building, rose hips will not do much good.
Now do I trust a doctor if I need knee surgery. You bet. Because I know they studied years and years on the subject... but if you ask any doctor who is honest, they will tell you they don’t learn only but a few semesters of basic nutrition... I have friends in the field and they all confirm to me that… nutrition is not their specialty… fixing what is broken is… not keeping the working things working.
Because of the pasteurization process (which is not natural by the way) so unless you have a cow in your backyard and you milk him… it’s NOT natural. Cows milk after being pasteurized lacks the enzyme lactase that helps your body break down lactose. That’s why most people are allergic and can’t digest it well even if there are no visible signs of allergies... That’s even the organic kind… but the non organic milk is made from cows who are not monitored in the way they are fed… and are loaded with hormones so that the cow will produce more milk. Its actually animal cruelty at its worst and is so far from natural. And inhumane. If you are going to buy milk. I would opt for the organic variety… or else you will be getting hormones.
It doesn’t cost an arm and a leg to eat organic food... you just have to shop smart... we don’t buy tons of filler snacks and juices with lots of sugar... we eat the basics... and very natural. And it has totally wiped out my severe allergies I had as a child growing up... I had to use steroid eye drops and I was injected with crap each week. I had severe allergies... and I know from experience that eating organic is not a farce. Or hype… for it changed my life. And I can feel the huge difference. I don’t even get seasonal allergies anymore. And I live in Texas… the allergy capital. They like to call it… because of all the cedar and ragweed. Crazy. How food really is nature’s medicine.
I am going to school for holistic medicine and have read many a book about how screwed up the FDA is. The food pyramid is a farce. The beef and milk industry have a lot of money and the big wigs pay off the people who write it up... one of the authors, Luise Light of "what to eat" was a food pyramid nutritionist... quit her job after she was wined and dined by the milk and beef industries trying to get more of their servings on the guideline. She knew it wasn’t right… and she knew based on what she studied that we don’t need milk at all only as a young baby.. Or better breast milk. And beef was the one of the main causes of colon cancer and other degenerative diseases.
A good Movie to watch. Would be “ The future of Food”. You can netflix it.
It is very informative about American farming.
Pesticides are not sprayed gently on our crops these days like the were years ago. The crops just like our bodies build immunity to something over a period of time and require a heavier strength (just our bodies do with like antibiotics). These days food is not sprayed, it is genetically modified… and DNA spliced. Using cells from other foods to create other foods… and in this splicing is the chemicals… there is no way to wash it off. No way to eat around it… its in the seed… before the crop grows.
Our family, we are not dogmatic about it.... sure we eat out at restaurants, we enjoy a nice meal out... have dinner at friends houses who don’t eat the way we do... but most of the time we feel ill afterward... because our bodies are not used to the nitrates, preservatives, sugar, pesticides and transfats to name a few. I usually pay for it afterward... so when people say they eat a certain way, it may not be to JUDGE you... but maybe its because their body feels a whole better when they do... Now I do know as a Mom there are always people who are out there to one up another… and for that. …Well that’s a whole other blog… I totally getcha on that subject…” like my stroller costs 3,000! “ And I’m secretly thinking… well don’t brag about the fact that you got totally ripped off. Right? There are some things that other Moms do and say that drive me batty. Because I like you def don’t think there is one way to raise a child… period.
As for thinking one way is better when it comes to food, its truly not my opinion…. it just is better. Its just the way it is... organic is better. It goes through rigorous amounts of tests before it is released on the shelves and the FDA cant touch that... however. Not -organic food does not have to meet those requirements. It’s plain and simple. Our bodies were not meant to process hormones and trans-fats (which are fake fats are body cant even recognize)… these kinds of things amongst other things make our body work that much harder. And store many of the “unknown” toxins in our skin and tissues… because our bodies don’t even know what it is. This is one of the reasons degenerative disease is on the rise more now than ever… because the contaminants we are dealing with today are far worse than that our parents generation.
Now there is no way I would ever say so ignorantly that you in anyway cause your Childs sickness… some things are genetic... but eating organic can only help with our illnesses. Because instead of processing’s chemicals it can work to heal and restore cells. This is true for everyone… not just people who suffer from an illness. I also have a very strong belief in God and obviously if it is the Lords will he can heal. I can totally sympathize with you on this matter. As it is frustrating doing research and seeing conflicting evidence. When all you want is a black and white reality of what is best for your precious child. Its tough. And I am sorry that you have to deal with that, truly.
As for being a good steward. The way I look at it. Is "man" messed" up food with all of it chemicals and greed, trying to make more money and more produce faster... and because of that we don’t have the kosher food that God intended for us to have... God gave us manna and olive leaf and all sorts of good healthy natural remedies to use ... but man perverted another good thing he gave us. I think that eating healthy IS being a good steward of our funds because we are taking care of our bodies and the bodies of our children. I could also go on to say that there are many things in the American way of life… that I are not cohesive to being good stewards… what would God think of flat screens, fancy SUVs and true religion jeans? When there are starving children globally… I think this is where we need to ponder on stewardship. I am not saying nice things are a sin.... I am only saying when we become overcome by materials... and buy to keep up with the world around us..
My family also chooses to eat organic… because we know that our dollar is our vote… so if we continue to buy crap.. That is what the companies will continue to make… and if we demand better. That is what we will get. supply and demand at its best…I am so passionate about it… I've really been tempted to pass out flyers at grocery stores to educate people… because we shouldn’t have to live in a country that we have to weed through and meticulsly read labels to make sure we aren’t consuming poison. (And im not being dramatic about it… read the label of crest white strips if you don’t believe me).
Obviously I am passionate about this too. Or I wouldn’t be studying to be a Holistic Doctor in this arena. I feel like people are so mislead by our government. However. I do not JUDGE you and I would soooooooo come over to eat at your house. If you would still like me after this rant... :0
Much love. Girl. I respect your being passionate and writing about this. There is a whole lot to it. For sure.

For sure.
